Lady of Milkweed Manor

Lady of Milkweed Manor by Julie Klassen

This is the first time I have read one of Klassen’s books but I do plan to read more of her writings! Lady of Milkweed Manor is a well written novel that shows us characters in their humanness, flawed and yet showing us those moments when we can live beyond ourselves… seeking what is best, the highest good for others. You will find this to be a novel about love, sacrifice, patience, endurance, and redemption. Wonderful!

The Parenting Journey

The Parenting Journey, Charting Your Family’s Spiritual Course written by Ron Brenning

You may remember I wrote a post a while back on the Parenting Class we were taking at our Church.  We have completed the first part of the class and are still working on the skills part - we focus on one skill at a time over the course of a 3 month period.  So for the year we have 4 skills total.

Any way I could just go on and on about how awesome this course is... We found it very beneficial, helpful, informative and changing.  Not only for us as parents but as individuals and for our family.  I wish that other Churches offered this ... who knows maybe it will spread from our Church outward?!

Fantastic!

Seaside Letters

Seaside Letters (A Nantucket Love Story) by Denise Hunter

It is a little like the movie You’ve Got Mail but with a twist… This story is a wonderful portrayal of how we in our sin are the prodigal running, when we see our sin as insurmountable… we are not good enough, we can’t do enough, we are not enough… and we are wrong. God pursues us, loves us with an unfailing love, and pours out grace upon us… He is there with waiting and open arms for us to turn to Him. We build walls and love brings them down and embraces us. Wonderful!

The Last Song

The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks is a winner! Wonderful, heart touching and one you don’t want to put down until the last page has been turned. This is Sparks at his best… it will make you grin, chuckle, and have need of a few tissues. You will come away from this book filled with a sense of sweetness … The characters are wonderful and the story is moving as you journey with them on their discovery of faith, hope, love, forgiveness (of self and others) and as they discover what is truly important. I didn’t want it to end – Superb!

THE LIGHTKEEPER’S DAUGHTER

THE LIGHTKEEPER’S DAUGHTER by Colleen Coble

Coble in this book (the first of the Mercy Falls series) takes us to Northern California in the early 1900s. We meet Addie Sullivan who is not who she believes herself to be… There is romance, murder, lies, hope, faith, and in the end the truth that sets us free. 4 Stars.

Worlds Collide

Worlds Collide by Alison Strobel

I have to say – wow. The characters and their story drew me in… and I am sad that the story has ended. Worlds Collide is the story of God using ordinary people, people with flaws and egos for His glory. You join these characters on their journey to faith; seeing God’s hand at work in the small and big things of life. This has in part the Hollywood Cinderella story of rich and famous Jack meeting and falling in love with 5th grade teacher, Grace. I love the way this story was woven… it made me grin, laugh and tear up. Wonderful!
